OBJECTIVE:
You are responsible for accurate, safe and timely delivery of customer orders, pickup of material from vendors, and helping out by processing orders in the warehouse as needed, all while maintaining a high standard of customer service. You will often be the face of Metal Supermarkets to our customers and vendors, and you are expected to be customer service oriented at all times. When you’re not loading, unloading or driving company vehicles, you’ll work with warehouse staff as well as customers to process orders. You’ll consult with trade professionals and do-it-yourselfers alike, helping them where they need it. It takes strong multi-tasking skills and attention to detail. Your people skills and ability to meet deadlines should make customers feel important, validated and well-served. When you leave a customers’ place of business, the customer should be confident with their order and satisfied knowing their experience with Metal Supermarkets was a positive one. Your interactions with vendors should leave them with a positive impression of Metal Supermarkets Denver (Commerce City).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely and accurately pick-up, load, deliver and unload materials on company vehicles
- Ensure vehicles are clean and properly maintained by identifying operational concerns and bringing them to management’s attention
- Safely and accurately cut customer orders to customer specifications using metal cutting equipment such as saws, hydraulic shear, etc. as directed by management and warehouse staff
- Safely operate forklift to move material around the warehouse
- Assist warehouse personnel to receive, identify and stock incoming materials, as requested
- Perform inventory maintenance and control including consistent application of cycle counts
- Make customers feel welcome and well-served at all times
- Work collaboratively with other employees to accomplish necessary tasks and address customer needs in a timely, safe and efficient manner
- Proactively ensure the warehouse is clean, organized and safe at all times with an eye toward making it suitable for customer browsing
- Proactively identify opportunities and projects around the warehouse and store to improve the workplace for your fellow employees and our customers and bring them to the attention of management
- Continue professional development through timely completion of designated learning opportunities
- Follow all required safety procedures including the use of safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves and safety shoes as required
- Show up on time for every shift; work a full shift as required by General Management; keep General Management informed in a timely manner of any changes to shift/schedules
- Perform other work-related tasks as requested by management
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Delivery driving experience
- Safe forklift operation experience; forklift certification is a plus
- Valid driver’s license, a clean driving record and insurable; pass background and drug test
- Excellent customer relationship skills
- Ability to perform basic math and accurately use measuring instruments – i.e.: tape measure, calipers, etc.
- Physically able to frequently lift/move metal product weighing 80 -100 lbs unassisted
