Terry Gist, Self Defense Expert, will be teaching us ways to proactively take safe measures to avoid a potential situation and how to protect ourselves if we are faced with an attack.
Terry has 15 years of experience with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo. He is a a Purple Belt, working towards his Brown Belt, and trains with instructors of the highest level of Jiu Jitsu as well as several Ultimate Fighting Championship fighters.
After spending 2 ½ years in a double major of Petroleum Engineering and Geology at the University of Wyoming, the crash in Oct. of 1987 caused Terry to switch majors over a weekend. So, he ended up moving back to Denver and getting his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Finance from Metropolitan State University .
Terry started his career in Finance at Oppenheimer in 1989 and in 1993 he moved over to American Century until the end of 1996. After realizing that the company he was with was not going to get him where he had planned to be, he decided to go into Real Estate. So, he got his license and started his career in January 1997 (and is still in the same office where he started).
In 2004, Chick-fil-A called and gave Terry a once in a lifetime opportunity to become an Owner/Operator of a store in Westminster. With much debate and 13 interviews later, he took that store and continued to sell real estate. In 2009, the Westminster mall closed, therefore, his store and his contract with Chick-fil-A terminated as well.
Since he never left the Real Estate field, it was easy to refocus solely on his Real Estate career again and in Dec. 2015, he became the 51% owner of his Brokerage – MB – Metroplex Realty, Inc.
Terry's passions outside of making other people’s dreams of home ownership a reality are: Ice Hockey, Scuba Diving, and Brazlian Jiu Jitsu. Through these hobbies, he has become more engaged in helping the local Police, Military, and first responders.
With the holidays right around the corner, this is a great time to be proactive and learn how to protect ourselves if faced with an unexpected situation.
